Unable to find a valid app Electron error when updating Visual Studio 2017 -


visual studio 2017 asking update 15.3.1...

however, attempting update results in following electron-related error:

error: unable find valid app @ object. (c:\program files (x86)\microsoft visual studio\installer\resources\electron.asar\browser\init.js:133:9)

i've not used electron, don't need it. however, can't see how remove or past error.

any suggestions?
