java - How to write dependencies in gradle build -

i start learn gradle today, , go https://www.mkyong.com/spring-mvc/gradle-spring-mvc-web-project-example/ learn.

in build.gradle document, dependencies written follow:

dependencies {      compile 'ch.qos.logback:logback-classic:1.1.3'     compile 'org.springframework:spring-webmvc:4.1.6.release'     compile 'javax.servlet:jstl:1.2'  }

know logback-classic:1.1.3 jar name. confusing ch.qos.logback, referring package name?

if yes, try compile jar, slf4j-api-1.7.7.jar.

so write compile org.slf4j:slf4j-api-1.7.7, hit not found error.

can point me mistake? sorry new, not silly question , being down vote.

the convention groupid:artifactid:version

try org.slf4j:slf4j-api:1.7.7
