html - Embedded CSS not working with TextEdit on Mac -


i very, new, please pardon ignorance.
away (thus using pc's) , have learnt use embedded css , had practice website going ok, came home face mac.

(i have not learnt use separate css, because hard on borrowed computers know embedded , in-line css)

no matter (the file formatted plain text, saved html), cannot css property "linked" html. html codes showing, css seems lost. took screen shot of simple example. right part shows on browser. can please enlighten me?

did try other browsers? there similar issues in page css not working in safari.

after try other browsers newest version, can locate problem. if other browsers don't work, problem might arise code.
